Lock 92 Rochdale Canal

Canals can go over hills by using locks: short stretches of water, locked at either end, in which the water level can lowered or raised. There used to be 92 locks on the 32 mile (51 km) Rochdale Canal in England.

The canal now has 91. Locks 3 and 4 have been replaced with a single deep lock, Tuel Lane Lock, which is numbered 3/4.
