A jellyfish’s tentacles are armed with stinging cells and may be used to capture prey and defend against predators. Most are harmless to humans but stings from some species can be very painful and sometimes kill. The box jellyfish is thought to be the most venomous marine animal in the world. Jellyfish don’t purposely attack humans, most stings occur when people accidentally touch them.
